JATApr 28, 11:57 AMI wanted very much to buy an iPad 2. But after seeing the dismal display and camera quality in person, and the fact that it didn't offer anything new or exciting over the iPad 1, I decided to wait for the Android tablets to hit in force and compare them to iPad 3.
What is the reasoning behind this attitude? Is this just a toy purchase? How can you have a "need" for a device that apparently doesn't exist? And then, what happens with your needs until then?

I can just see the people on this forum, if they had been alive in 1975:
"I need a phone that I can carry with me all the time. Nobody makes one! Guess I'll just never call anybody for the next 10 years."

I have a 2010 i5 MacbookPro bought in Jan of this year. (previous PC was stolen and had to replace it ASAP). Since then I have had to replace the magsafe adapter twice as the Pro would not charge and finally in the 1st week of April the magsafe logic board was replaced on the recommendation of the Geniuses at the Apple store. Since the replacement at least once or twice a week the OS has crashed. (OS never crashed before the magsafe board was replaced). Has anyone experienced a similar problem ? Would appreciate any advice on this issue. Thanks in advance.

The idea of paying $50 more makes some have a hissy fit while MOST are right to complain about it in a normal, reasonable way.

AT&T is obviously more than legally able to do this but it is obvious to anyone that they are doing it strictly to add more $ to their pockets. And the response to that will be that they are allowed to and that EVERYONE wants more money. Yes, and consumers are allowed to complain when companies do something STRICTLY to make them pay more.

There is really no reason for AT&T to do this other than to make consumers pay more. When AT&T does this, they should expect a backlash

neutFeb 14, 02:29 PMI learned this the hard way, before I was a moderator. I would post about something I saw that was wrong, and a moderator would fix the problem and delete my post. It didn't take me long to figure out I was making their job more time consuming!

as a non-moderator but a very active member ... it is sometimes hard to discern what will be interpreted as a 'bad post' and what the on duty mod will let fly. i think i've only reported one post, but will always try to diffuse a situation before we involve 'the authorities'; unless im involved of course. :p

maybe i've just adopted bad posting habits ...

IMHO:
The Atari Joystick is the best video game controller of all time.
The trackball is a must for playing games like centipede or millipede.
And playing breakout or kaboom without a paddle controller is not the same.

As mentioned above the iCade has to include a trackball.

Maybe a bluetooth adapter could be used to use the old controllers?

I hope that Activision also release their games.

All of his email responses are terse. Verbose is a bad thing if you are an executive, and frankly, people should strive for terse in business anyway.

Reminds me of an anecdote that I read of Tim Cook. In a meeting of Apple managers, he explained that there was a problem in one of the Chinese assemblies houses. A few minutes later, he looked at the engineer/manager and asked "Why are you still here?".

100YearsApr 21, 01:11 PMI thought I read somewhere on this forum, that these models can work just fine with only 1 processor installed....so this got me thinking -- if you only install 1 processor, then you could go with a generic LGA1366 i7 even though it only has a single QPI link. Just wondering why you invested in a video card for a file server or did I miss a post where you said you wanted to do other things? If you are just doing file serving I recommend going headless as it will save power and money.

Maps are old, people. They've been digitized for a damn long time. There are good sources of data available should Apple want to go in that direction.

Now, when you talk about StreetView, yeah, that may be something of an issue.

Yes, Navteq and Tele Atlas own the market when it comes to road data. However, these days maps are so much more than road information. Google has spent quite a few years obtaining data on places (w/ reviews), streetview, satellite images, etc. They obtain their information from more than just google maps users as well. I'm not sure how Apple can start from scratch and be able to match that kind of data that Google has.
