CaptMurdockApr 3, 04:16 PMWhat icon/theme is that?
Most of them are from the Flurry (http://iconfactory.com/freeware/preview/flrs) set, although I made a few myself in the same style.

goober1223Apr 4, 11:45 AMThis is another reason why I will likely just transfer my number to Google Voice for $20 + cancellation fees without losing my number. Currently my cost would be about $100 total for the change on top of a contract price of $299 (for 32GB model), so $399 instead of $549.

nagrommeMar 31, 11:33 AMIt's cool, but totally pointless other than being used as a tech demo.
I fully expect that the control will not be fine enough on the layers / brushes, etc to be acceptable for commercial or even personal use. It's hard enough to select and erase layer parts when using a WACOM tablet on a PC or Mac... Now we do the same thing with fingerpaint precision....
There are already quite a few VERY good paint/editing apps on iOS that support layers. And quite a few people doing amazing, precise freehand work. Zoom helps! And touching your work directly removes a creative barrier. Compared to looking one place and moving your hand someplace else (Wacom or mouse; although people adapt well to those too).
Desktops/laptops won’t go away, but the iPad is ALREADY being used for serious production, and that will only grow as multitasking (the new gestures) and file management/sharing (wireless and painless?) catch up. iOS is still young!
The way I look at the iPad for serious creative work is that current apps typically offer 1/4 of the full power of a desktop app... and most of us only use 1/20 of that power anyway! So find the app that has the tools you need... or find several apps! And what makes up for that limited power? Much greater ease and convenience. You’ll still use your desktop Photoshop (etc.) as well, but an iPad in the production mix can be a great tool. (And an iPad plus a ton of great creative apps costs less than many single desktop programs!)
My tiny-screen iPhone already had a role in my creative production work. That will only grow (literally) with a bigger screen!
I’d love to see more offerings from Adobe. (I actually really like Adobe Ideas on iPhone. It’s a vector program of sorts with a paint program UI. Images zoom sharply to any size when exported as PDF.)

iBug2Nov 13, 07:23 PMAre you sure it was FCP and not just the generic NLE layout you saw?
They wouldn't use both - if they were using MC, the only other app they might export to would be Scratch.
Also, he's technically correct: Benjamin Button's budget was $150 million.
Now you made me doubt myself, gonna go check the bluray. :)
And about Button, ah so I suppose the extra 50 mil makes you go AMC. :)
Edit: Checked the blu ray, I stand corrected they are using Avid. When I saw the Apple keyboards and Apple Cinema displays with OS X background all over the place, I must have automatically assumed it was FCP. Why would they use macs for AMC though?

savoirfaireAug 29, 02:16 PMDoes anybody know of a piece of music i could use for my slideshow?
The sideshow contains picture of a camping trip in the summer holidays.
Thanks people.
For me, Holiday Road from National Lampoon's Vacation is the quintessential road trip song, but I don't know if that works for your slides.

rickvanrNov 10, 11:36 AMGrowl (http://growl.info) is a global notification system for Mac OS X. Any application can send a notification to Growl, which will display an attractive message on your screen.
Try it! Its free and from the makers of Adium and you'll love it!
I use it to notify me of iTunes track changes, new mail and Adium notifications.
That's what growl does? I've only ever seen/ heard about it in the Proteus message boards

Hook'Em2006Feb 8, 10:37 PMHe did it with an app called geektool. It takes a little know how to do, but there are plenty of dummy proof guides on youtube.
I used to use geektool until I got a few Kernal panics and I noticed my mac taking a performance hit from it. Be careful when your messing with system tweaks!
What is a Kernal Panic?
Im guessing I probably shouldn't mess with it then? I really enjoy having a stable system at the moment. This computer is just about perfect. Just wish I would have bought the 15" instead of 13" MBP. I will be taking it back tomorrow or the next day, weather permitting of course. Here in Dallas we have been getting some wicked nasty snow storms, for around here anyway.

GurubarryNov 11, 02:10 PMFor feature films and television these days, Final Cut is ABSOLUTELY the industry standard. Oh and in the 8 years I've lived in Hollywood, I never met one person in the industry who uses a Windows PC (maybe a writer or two).
I never killed anyone (maybe a fanboy or two) lol

*LTD*Mar 25, 11:05 AMApple should just roll their own.
They have the power, the talent, the size, and certainly the scale, to go their own way with an excellent chance of success.
The more things they do in-house, the better. It'll only enhance the Apple ecosystem and grow it.
This is folks. Apple is now in charge of their own destiny.

Loving this wallpaper, but it sucks cause it's very pixelated. Can someone maybe make it bright or does someone have a HD version of this wallpaper?
Can someone make it look nicer? This is the wallpaper:

Apple OCMar 28, 01:22 AMI never said I wanted the seller to lose his life or be seriously injured. Show me where I said that.
I'm not talking getting hurt either ... maybe $500 dollars damage to your car would be a fair price to pay for your foolish lane change? ... fair enough karma for wishing that on the buyer?

ArchaicRevivalApr 20, 09:13 PMAndroid will be on more things by the end of the year. iOS is restricted to apple products. But we are already seeing the creativity that people are using android for. Being that it is open source and easy to modify and write on we have many things. Android now powers eReaders, TVs, Video games, and even a microwave
Is that supposed to be impressive? Apple is not in the appliances market, my friend.

Those Datsun are so awesome! I love when people mod them tastefully. They look great especially with a wicked motor in it.
I went to a some what small car show today. It wasn't that great but there was free BBQ!! :p
I, of course snapped some photos. Some of them are not so great as the lightly was horrible and my ISO was set to 100 as I hate noise but I tried my best without a tripod. So please bare with me..

srxtrApr 13, 10:32 AMAfter last year's iPhone 4 leak incident I think :apple: is just being extra careful this year not to leak any details whatsoever on the iPhone 5.
And then BOOM. iPhone 5 announcement @ WWDC!!
PS: For those who are threatening to move to a non-iPhone phone, remember this is all speculation and rumor. I know how horrible it can be, I had a 3G until I got my iPhone 4, but I waited patiently for 4 to come out and it was well worth it.
techfreak85Aug 3, 05:30 PMA photo I took while on vacation in the Grand Tetons, WY.
"Today is forecast to be much warmer than yesterday" ?! That's awesome! What's the script for it?
LagunaSolApr 28, 09:16 AMI'm an Apple fan, but the truth has to be told: a) 3.5" is TOO small to be practical. I have a Motorola DEFY with a 3.7" display, and even then, the on screen keyboard is not large enough in portrait mode, at least 4 to 4.3" is vital.
Why not 5"? Or 6"? 4.3" is "vital?" I doubt most people desire a phone that's the size of an old-school PDA. I know I don't.
