That's their choice. It still does not change he fact that according to independent studies, Wikipedia is very accurate. At this point I gues that you will just close your eyes, cover your ears and shout "LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!". But that does not change the FACTS.

Just because something's longer doesn't mean it's bettter!

Am I speaking latin here or something? Let me repeat what I have said: According to independent studies, Wikipedia is very accurate. Meaning: There are very few errors in the entries in Wikipedia. IN ADDITION TO THAT, Wikipedia has longer articles (on average) than Britannica (for example) does. I have NOT said "Wikipedia is better because the articles are longer". I have said that "Articles in Wikipedia are very accurate AND the are on average longer than ones in Britannica". Longer articles means that they have more information than shorter articles do.

Suppose that you were looking for information about string theory (for example). Would you prefer an article on the subject that consist of one paragraph, or one that consists of twelwe paragraphs?

If you've ever used Encyclopaedia Brittanica or the World Book, the authors are pros on the subject, not just some bum that's obcessed with Google!

What makes you think that authors in Wikipedia are "bums"? What makes you think that they are not experts in their field?

You obviously have an axe to grind when it comes to Wikipedia. I haven't seen any reason why you should call the wikipediaistas "bums". So what is your problem here?

SodnerMar 23, 02:01 PMI was AMAZED to see a video on my iPad off CNN of people in the affected areas of Japan calmly walking through a food store with 90% empty shelves. Calmly, quietly picking up one or two things here or there placing them in the cart and moving on. An interview of a shopper through interpreter announced "This is the only store with any stock...." and yet it was a peaceful as can be. :)

One system is popular because people want it, but the other will eventually surpass it because its an open system on many different phone platforms that are often included for "free".

Usually this is followed by someone with a 'shareholder' remark since they somehow believe that owning 7 shares of Apple should get them a direct line to the CEO.

Ut-oh, I'm not conforming to the groupthink... here comes about 40 'hater' comments.

Not a hater comment, just saying but do you know that Nokia keeps suing apple, and there really is no reason for it. At first it made sense, but now it just seems pretty petty. And as A side note, Have you actually seen someone on here who thinks owning 7 shares of apple gets therm a direct line to the steve jobs?

twoodccAug 28, 12:22 AMwell i'm having heat issues with one of my systems. after messing around some tonight, i've got it running at 4.0 ghz, but no gpu folding. it did have 2 x 260s folding before, but was having problems.

right now i have the side of the case off, and a box fan blowing air on it. it's actually making it much cooler. so i might try to go for 4.2 ghz tomorrow

Yes, I know, but like I wrote above, there are a lot of implications with how the conversation started out and unfolded.

There's also a big difference between saying that your nation's immigration policies are flawed (which I can get behind in most cases) and saying that your country is being taken from you and you're somehow a 2nd class citizen now.

That would be awesome, but if muslims are the majority, i have a bad feeling about what they will turn the country into. It would likely become a muslim state, and israel would not be able to remain secular.

I have long believed that a secular, unitary state is the only right solution for Palestine. It can happen.

Yeah, because muslims have a great track record when it comes to running their own countries. Of course there are a few exceptions, but they usually have a difficult time separating religion from politics. Islam isn't just a religion, its a political ideology for many of them. If the palestinians were mostly christian, this situation wouldn't be going on right now. The whole problem is the fact that they are muslim.

I've never understood why the iLife apps don't carry the same names and code base as the pro apps, just with an introduction level of features. So once someone gets hooked on one of the iLife Apps they can just move up the the chain.

I don't mean dumbing any of the them down, just that the iLife versions would start with the most understandable and commonly useful bit of the workflow of each app family. After all if they are rebuilding the core of each family for 64bit and other snow leopard and iOS goodness why not make it all build on itself to shorten the next part of the task.

All it would have to convey is any one of six basic directions and the users will all be trained to listen for it carfully and wiling to set up the speakers in exact locations. It might be helpfull to someone who is blind. I know some one who is and he can sometimes tell who enters a room and from where before the person speaks. If this is the target user then it need not be perfect or even natural sounding

Technically you need 3 speakers to produce 3d sound. Manufacures claim they can do it with 2 but they don't. You need a center channel to balance the sides.

I do have a sense of what's going on there.

Norway is a small country with only 5M citizens in the whole country (600K in the capital city). The land area is about the same size as the state of California. Most phenomenons would seem minor compared to the US. But I guess the fact that almost anyone can afford to buy food for an entire month or two in advance if necessary, makes mass looting Chicago-style far less likely.

Sadly, I remember reading an article a while back that said the number one import beer in the U.K. was...Budweiser. Not the Czech version, but the Anheuser-Busch version. There also stats showing how much their sales were going up, while sales of Guinness were down all around the U.K. It was very depressing. All those lovely beers to import from their own back yard, and Budweiser is the number one import? I haven't seen any numbers on the rest of the EU, though.

ChundlesNov 9, 11:14 PMHah! Whoops, sorry about that. Seasons and prices are two things I always quote relative to what applies to me. So summer = January, Autumn = March and Leopard will likely cost $199.

It's only when someone from the US asks "how much will Leopard cost" I'll answer in US$. But I make sure to write US$xxx.

But back to the topic at hand, I really don't see this early release some people are craving happening for Leopard.

Apple got stung a bit in the media on the release of 10.4 due to a number of bugs present for power users and computer-savvy people ie. the people most likely to voice their opinions on forums and chat sites - in the initial 10.4.0 release.

I never had anything I could class as a bug, a few annoyances re: somewhat slower, joining wireless networks after waking from sleep etc. but nothing that was going to hamper my use. The power users found some serious bugs and voiced their concerns all over the net, concerns the media picked up on and ran some fairly sensationalist headlines about.

I would assume Apple will want to reduce those stories with the release of Leopard and I for one would much rather see a really stable, fast and confidence-boosting 10.5.0 in March than a somewhat buggy release in January that takes till March to reach a feeling of maturity with the release of 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 in the interim.
