Apple OCApr 6, 10:45 PMNo? Why compromise with a bunch of xenophobic racists who have an irrational fear of Muslims?
why be so angry? ... I worked for a Muslim for 3 years ... I would not call it racism because race has more to do with skin color than religious beliefs.
he was of the belief that if you did not worship the prophet Muhammed ... you were just not there. he actually felt sorry for non-Muslims for not believing.
Personally ... I wish people would keep their religious beliefs to themselves. There is no need to spread the word of God, Allah, Muhammed or any other cult of choice.
Either way ... I do not want to derail this thread too far from "the Jewish owning the White House"

PghLondonApr 29, 11:13 AMNot at all. Sales are determined and calculated by part numbers ... by any reliable firm, that is. Perhaps, you're not familiar with such practices? Maybe you spend too much time viewing simplified/dumbed-down blogs instead of actual sales/business forecasts. It's OK, at one juncture, all of us had to spoon-fed.

Sales are determined by model number. Inventory control is calculated by part number.
Keep trying, though. I'm quite amused.

LollypopOct 15, 01:47 AMIm glad to see that some uni's are seeing more mac users, over here most people still cant afford a laptop, so they are forced to use the open computer labs.. that feature.. you guessed it.. Dells. I was the only one in the entire computer science department that had a mac.. But im hoping the trend to move away from a singular platform eventuall changes that.

radhakSep 9, 10:13 AMHmm... How's it happening? My radio is off again. Are we as toothless as the score suggests?
More like Langer and Hayden getting their act together.
Of course, there does seem to be a case of 'lets not lose this one' on Vaughn's part.

peskaaNov 13, 04:53 AMPft, I always thought the PS3 price was insane, despite having all the features. MS's tactic of overcharging for everything was also annoying - 55 for a WiFi adapter, seriously? Sony only started getting the right idea when they began cutting things like the card readers etc. down.
I'd also say that the core hardware is the important part, being able to pick accessories is more important. MS even agree, as they now bundle WiFi in to the new 360s.

Okay, so it doesn't have the "physical/tactile controls" over the touch-sensitive pad, but it is one giant touch-sensitive pad.
Yeah, that's prior art that now belongs to Apple. A lot of this patent activity seems to be an investigation into ways of exploiting that.

Apple is playing the cards right... the consumers will be fooled, and purchase the white iPhone... all while not realizing that Apple has made a strategic business decision to look towards LTE, and wait for the next big release of the iPhone with 4G from Verizon & AT&T.
Apple is waiting on AT&T... been trying to tell you guys in other posts.
The iPhone 4 is one of Apple's biggest money producing products to date - Glass on the front & back ehhh...
Think people.
Apple has done it again. Maxed profits & cut margins, all while gaining momentum with the consumer.
They make products that sell(max profits), instead of making products for the user like we remember Apple. Not one Apple product get's overstocked... Not ONE!
Pandering to Apple only proves to them, people will settle for anything.

The NY Daily News iPad app is a great price, but the whole thing is a piece of junk. Its like reading a blurry pdf.
The NY Post is optimized for iPad, but is expensive.
Guess which one I bought?
Neither.

Passe'? I've never seen a laptop with a carbon fiber enclosure, so not sure how it can already be passe.
If they can make it work, I say bring it on.

rtdunhamDec 2, 04:17 PMDo you know how many of those suckers would have to be placed to track a jogger running thru Central Park? maybe hundreds easily if they are limited to 60ft.
sure, make light of it. but do i want to be able to be stalked by every vision-impaired tom, dick, and hannibal who otherwise couldn't follow me within a 60 foot radius? I don't think so.
next some evil corporation will come up with an mp3 player that not only can track you at such close distance, but also--oh, the humanity--send you a song to distract you even more. Think "Don't Look Back," 1965, by the Temptations, or the later version by Springsteen. Sure, we'll listen to our music idols--only to be stabbed in the back.

azazel-May 18, 04:16 PMQUESTION: Would the police in your town break down the door of someone who stole your cell phone?
ADMIT IT... Answer? NOPE!
And please let's go down the trade secrets route, we're not talking anything breakthrough here or nuclear technology. This was a crazed over-reaction by both local police authorities and Apple and they deserve to be roundly ridiculed, lambasted, and criticized for this complete waste of tax dollars and destruction of property and home invasion, all for a lost cell phone by a drunk guy in a bar.
Is your cellphone worth $8500 to Gizmodo?
Yeah, I thought not...

I'm inclined to believe they're real, and I like them :) Expos for Safari tabs? It's like they read my mind. I hope they're real come Monday.
They do look/sound good, and I like most of the features they claim, but the Spotlight screenshots look faked to me. Not professional enough.

GrimaceOct 14, 07:25 PMI happen to have the displeasure of knowing a good many more than I'd like to, and I'm telling you there's no way that a full 45% of that student body are blue-blooded Mac users. Princetonians are a people lacking utterly in subtlety and charm, and even poorer in aesthetic intuition. They're the people who pose with upturned collars! I can't stress strongly enough: These people aren't Mac users. They're switcheurs.
And...how old are you? You are making gross generalizations about an entire student body -- one that is completely recycled in four years. Your comments could apply to most Research I universities, I'm not sure why you're so uptight about what many of us might call "progress".

WildCowboyJul 11, 07:33 PMMagneium is can be had for $16 USD/Metric Tonne
I like to see a reference for this one...the last I saw, magnesium was around $2000/MT. It was big news a few months ago when magnesium prices barely dipped below those for aluminum...I don't know the current prices, but there's no way Mg is going for $16/MT.
Edit: Just checked...Mg is trading for about 1.90 USD/kg.
p0intblankJan 9, 09:04 PMI'm with you on the disappointment. I was all ready to order it by tonight with an Apple gift card I received for Christmas. :( Hopefully Apple will silently release it sometime this week.
BenRoethigOct 23, 11:14 AMActually, I think Apple is starting to push into the business market. They seem very serious about their upcoming Xserve launch in the next couple weeks and the iMacs make excellent office computers. Not to mention the current commercial specifically mentioning that their systems run MS Office. I'm willing to bet we'll see a bigger business/corporate market push by Apple once Office goes universal binary.
Anyway, while we're on that subject, does anyone know of a good accounting program for the Mac? And NOT Quickbooks! I despise that software, Intuit has over-simplified it to a point where it actually takes too many redundant steps to do a lot of things. That and its payroll support is a joke since you have to pay them extra to use it and well... I'm not even going to go there.
The GMA iMac is too expensive and doesn't offer enough customization to make a good business desktop. It makes a very good education system though.
